Color in Motion - Business Jet Livery Concept (Embraer Lineage E1000)

This was supposed to be a follow-up livery from the 727 livery I uploaded. It ended up... to be a bit more of what I thought it would be.

Since the jet is painted with similar design motif and connotations, I'll just skip through all the descriptions of what is in the design, and share my thoughts on this design overall - How I came up with this design, how I scrapped everything, and how I managed to put them back together and create a much better version than the original design.

Following my design language for the 727, the main theme of this livery is Blurred Motion. The design started with a tail, inspired by a real-life Lineage (N730MM owned by, at the time, MGM Mirage). The original plan was to paint a tail similar to the design of N730MM, but with the dual-blue pattern on 727 (blurred light blue pattern covering the darker blue background), coupled with a wave connecting the tail and the main fuselage livery - still, just like the 727. The main fuselage was supposed to be painted as what I have designed now, but without the gradient from light to dark blue at the top, and without any white decorations on top of the patches. As I was playing around adding the "Blur" element, however, I found that blurred light blue on top of the dark blue background does not provide enough contrast, while white-on-blue is, in fact, a much better way to make the "Blur" element stand out. Hence, I completely scrapped the original tail design, added the duel-blue-gradient background with white patterns, and added the white gradient at the rear of the fuselage. This deviated significantly from my original design concept used on the 727, but it turned out to look way better.

I've been focusing on business jet livery designs lately, for I believe, since business jets are not restricted by the brand image that is otherwise vital for airlines, and are usually not as cost-sensitive, they provide the best canvas for the most special aircraft liveries.

This livery is painted on an mock-up Embraer Lineage, which is one of my favorite type of large business jets. Although, since the simulator does not have an actual Lineage yet, the livery is painted on an civilian Embraer E195. It is a tad longer than the Lineage, but.. hey, it still looks cool!
